Spotsylvania County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot verify custody or release, post bond, release someone, or obtain official booking records. Please use the appropriate public office below for an official answer.

Choose the Responsible Office

Contact the custodian that holds the record or controls the question. A current regional-jail search, a Sheriff-held report, a state-custody record, and a court disposition are different records with different official routes.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Records

For clearly described Sheriff-held reports, incident verification, or an existing County Sheriff record, contact the Records Office at 9119 Dean Ridings Ln, Spotsylvania, VA 22553. The records line is 540-507-7200; listed hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. FOIA Officer Bernita Jeter is listed at 540-507-7144, and the office provides an online FOIA request portal. For non-emergencies, the Sheriff lists 540-582-7115. Call 911 for an emergency or active crime.

Rappahannock Regional Jail

For current adult custody information, use RRJ’s official JailTracker portal. RRJ serves Spotsylvania’s adult corrections needs and is located at 1745 Richmond Hwy, Stafford, VA 22554; its main number is 540-288-5245. For a clearly identified jail-held record, RRJ lists FOIA Officer Santina Thelen at 540-288-5268 and sthelen@rrj.state.va.us.

Courts and State Custody

For a court proceeding or disposition, use the Virginia Courts Case Status and Information portal or contact the court clerk. Spotsylvania General District Court lists 9111 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553, and 540-507-7680. If the question concerns state custody or supervision after transfer, use the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator, not the regional jail roster.

Where to Begin Online

  • Read the home guide for the official-first pathway to current custody, booking records, adult intake-photo requests, and court confirmation.
  • Use RRJ’s public roster only for current adult custody. A missing result can reflect release, transfer, a different custodian, or a search issue.
  • Use the Most Wanted guidance for a warrant concern. Do not rely on a roster to clear a warrant, and do not approach a wanted person.
  • Review the Crime News & Mugshots page for local reporting and the distinction between an allegation, a current-custody listing, and a court outcome.
  • For federal or immigration detention, use the relevant official federal locator. Those systems do not establish a local RRJ booking or a Virginia court disposition.
